Kiosk
The Main Interface

The Kiosk is the front facing, main user "student" interface. It is a simple webpage that loads all of your students in the dropdown element and has only two buttons: checkin and checkout.
When a student has tapped or clicked one of these buttons, a confirmation popup confirming the event appears for 3 seconds and the dropdown resets ready for the next user action.
A student cannot checkin if they are already checked in and cannot checkout if they are already checked out. A popup will display a warning message if a student attempts this and no event will be recorded in this case.
To prevent any accidental clicks or taps (or intentional snooping around), there are no links or buttons that lead to any other pages and the Kiosk is isolated from every other part of the web app.
The exception is that tapping or clicking the logo will reload the page. This will refresh the list of students in the dropdown box if any changes have been made on another device.
Using attendince As An iPad App
The Kiosk page is designed to be used as a Safari Web App. This makes it look and act like a native, fullscreen app on the iPad without an address bar, tabs, or other buttons found on a normal Safari webpage.
To use this as an app, using Safari on the iPad: login, go to the Kiosk page, and tap the share button. Tap "Add to Home Screen" to add the app to the Home Screen. Open it like any other app. You will be required to login the first time you open this new web app (and it will redirect you to the Admin page), but then just force close the app and open it again and it will automatically stay logged in and display the Kiosk.
Ideally, you can set up one or more iPads that make it quick and efficient to get many students checked in or checked out during busy hours. There's no limit on the number of devices which run the app.
